Originally published in 1940, Babar and Father Christmas was the last picture book Jean de Brunhoff wrote before his untimely death at the age of 37. Luckily, he had completed the story & line drawings for both Babar and Father Christmas & Babar and His Children. His brother Michel, the editor in chief for the French Vogue, directed the coloring of these last two books. Jean's son Laurent was only 12 shen his father died, but he was allowed to color a few of the pages.
